Inspired by Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata and Erik Satie’s spacey piano, After the Moonlight started with the original piano version. It was composed over 2 years and then "retouched" several years later. The first public performance of the “Original Version” took place at the mythical “Grenier des Grands-Agustins” in Paris, where Picasso created the painting Guernica; his drafts where exhibited at the moment the recital. In the US, the piece was premiered with the New World Symphony Fellows in Miami Beach, FL.
